Lost Judgment Overview

In December 2021, at the Tokyo district court, Akihiro Ehara stands accused of groping a woman on a crowded train. A bystander’s video footage of his attempt to flee the scene and subsequent apprehension has made headlines, leading to public outcry demanding a maximum sentence.

In a twist, Ehara proclaims, “Three days ago, a dead body was found in an abandoned building in Yokohama. Have you identified it yet?” This statement brings confusion to the courtroom. His defense lawyer, Saori Shirosaki, believes crucial details have been overlooked, particularly because Ehara was not even tried for the murder. She contacts Detective Takayuki Yagami to investigate further. Questions arise: How could Ehara have committed two crimes at once? Was the sexual battery just a cover-up? Has he manipulated the entire justice system? As victims emerge and Yagami delves deeper into the truth, he faces a moral dilemma: defend the law or enact justice. From a single stumble, one can transform into a monster.

Alongside his partner, ex-Yakuza Masaharu Kaito, they are called to investigate a seemingly perfect crime with a lead suspect who has an airtight alibi. What begins as a story of revenge unveils a complex conspiracy, revealing several unlikely factions exploiting a broken legal system. As victims increase and Yagami uncovers the truth, he must make a choice between defending the law and seeking justice.
